As a part of Lorenzo Ghiberti's first success he completed a second pair of doors for the Florence city baptistery between 1425 and 1452. The doors depicted scenes from the Old Testament and were done with more finesse then even his earlier work. Donatello was influenced greatly by Ghiberti's deft hand and classical style which can be seen in his sculptures - he also worked as Ghiberti's assistant during his work on the East Baptistery doors. Also greatly influenced by Ghiberti, Michelangelo described the later doors as the Gates of Paradise, a title that became popular. To complete the panels for the doors Ghiberti got rid of the Gothic quatrefoil frames and his sculpting uses perspective and a unified system for depicting the space within the scenes. The final product looks like he was painting with bronze; each panel has a deep relief, middle relief and low relief which heightens his use of perspective.
